Wintersun
Hey!
Just been to the wintersun, a huge rockabilly/swing (mostly rockabilly) festival in Coolongata on the Gold Coast. It lasts 10 days and there's hundreds of cars, dance workshops - rockabilly/jive/swing (including some with Dex and Alice), outdoor shows as well as evening shows, a market full of vintage or vintage like clothes, shoes (dance), accessories, car accessories, etc and more. I had the chance to spend the last weekend of the fest down there, from Thursday night 'till the big swing dance Sunday night. It was just awsome to walk around with all the people that have a passion for the 40's and 50's, lots of Elvis fans as well. I know a bunch of you would've loved it so here's a sample of the pix I took during that weekend (for more go to http://s127.photobucket.com/albums/p136/lindy_rocks/ under Wintersun in the Australia file).

Maybe your new cowgirl!!!
Hey! I went mustering! Oh ya mustering! For those who are not familiar with what mustering is, it's went you move cattles thru a certain distance. This time, we moved about 600 cattles thru 12-15km. By car, it took about 15-20 mins offroad to get there, moving these cattles took about 7hrs. I just can't believe I go my arse up before 6am. Never would I've thought I would be doing this in my life. Hey, I might end up being the next female Clint Eastwood! Yah right! Lauren and I shared a 4wheeler as we pushed those cattles in the arse to mooooove and make sure they don't leave the pack. This was sooooo much fun! I love mustering, I'm definety going to do this again for a month or so but on a horse (I hope). I'll be a Jillaroo. These cattles move so much dirt, I have a film of dust all over me and quite a suntan. God it was hot! Thanks to Neil for the experiance! Go cowboys!!!

That's one way of getting into my pants! lol (Sorry Richard)
A couple of weeks ago, I was in a mall and this pharmacy had hair dyer on special (5$ - really cheap) so I decide to buy some to refresh my hair color. I haven't had a chance to get to it until last night. I had asked my friend Richard, here's Richard :
Hello Richard!! I asked him if he would dye my hair for me and also if he had some t-shirts he wanted to get rid of as the dyer stains. He accepted, really nice of him. Anyways, yesterday was hair dying day. So Richard came over but he only brought 3 t-shirts. I needed one and we needed 2 to cover the chair I would be sitting on while he dyed my hair. I can't believe he didn't bring more and to top it off, he was wearing nice clean work clothes, there was no way he could risk staining them. I offered to wear one of my boxer, this one actually :
He refused and said he could do it in his undies, he striped and then realized that it wouldn't work so he accepted the boxers. lol!! I was cracked up! I just couldn't stop laughing looking at him wearing my boxer. Really, imaging that guy on the top pic wearing noting but these boxers (over his undies of course). It was just way too hilarious. I was really bummed that day but THAT just made my day. Very appreciated Richard!
Well at the end, my hair turned out pretty nice! And I have a story I'll never forget! Thanks Richard!!!!
P.S. Sorry I don't have a pic of him in the boxers, I couldn't find batteries that worked before he got dressed. :P

Poems
Hi,
Here are 2 poems I wrote about swing dancing. I wrote them when I was in Poland and missing it very much. They are not perfect and don't follow any rules, I just spat them out as I felt. Now, I'm posting them for you to read, it's just like putting my heart out there. Here they are :
I need swing.
I need to feel good and appreciated.
I need to glide on a dance floor like on clouds.
I need the feeling of complicity from the lead-follow connection and the satisfaction of a dance well executed.
I need the feeling of fufillment I get when I know I've followed every move perfectly and got to add some of my creation without disturbing the lead.
To dance is to fell free,
to express yourself without words,
to talk with your body,
to exchange heat and movement without taking your clothes off,
to follow the music and let it take over your body and senses,
to feel the beat take over,
to let loose,
to glide across the dance floor,
to be someone else,
to communicate your feelings,
to spread your evergy and happinest,
to be proud and conquer,
to dance is to fly.

Swing dancing in Hawaii!!
Hey,
I've been dancing in Hawaii, tho the scene is small the people are great! They are some of the nicest people I've met. They made me feel comfortable, driven me back to my hostel, helped me with my laptop, got me to try Mochi, suggested Hawaiian dishes and restaurants. They were just great! I'm very glad i came and met these guys. Thanks to all of you for your hospitality!!!

The Jello Shots

Most of you guys know my favorite band is the Jello Shots. They don't have their own song yet but they sure are really fun to listen and watch. They started as a Jazz/swing band (still are!), now they do a lot of covers and play in many different bars in Montreal and surroundings. It's always a blast going to see them. To get to their next show, check out their website : http://thejelloshots.com/
p.s. Sorry Nick, I didn't have a pic with all 5 of you!

The Highlander Pub
I just spent my last days in Ottawa for a very long time. So I took the opportunity to organise a gathering with my favorite people in Ottawa, swing dancers. We went for food and beer at the Highlander Pub and then headed to Le Petit Chicago where a Jazz band was playing, it was good (tho not always dansable!). Well it was a great evening, thanks to all that showed up! Keep in touch!!
